Introduction
Easy Click Excel Add-in will help you with Excel modeling that requires large-scale autofill across and down, at ease.
Caution: If you use functions in this add-in, un-dos for previous actions (including the current action taken within this add-in) will not work. Carefully examine your spreadsheet before you apply any functions in this add-in so that you may not lose your work.
1. Fill Across
If you want to fill across the formula (or value) in B5 like below, type the formula in B5 (or select cell) and click the “Fill Across” button.
You can choose an option to fill:
Formula & Value: Fills formula or value only
Formats: Cell formats only
All: Formula (value) and formats.
This function will fill the cells to match the furthest column on the nearest row. In this example, the nearest row is row 3, and column G is the furthest column. So the results will be:
If you have a set-up like below and want to fill Electricity on row 8, this will fill up to column D first (based on row 7). Click the button one more time, and it will fill up to column G (based on row 3). And no more.
2. Fill Down
It does the same as Fill Across but downward. It is similar to Excel’s basic autofill (double-clicking the autofill handle). But Easy Click works even if there are space(s) between your reference row (column) and target cells like the above examples. Excel’s autofill only works when your cell is located right next to another column without space. So, below will fill column C to row 13 with the Fill Down button but it will not work with Excel autofill.
3. Formula comparison
Sometimes, when we use autofill, it is a common mistake to forget to use absolute reference ($ sign) resulting in messed-up results. Below, $ signs are missing for referencing B1. It should be $B$1 instead.
You expected Gas expenses to grow but stay constant. You can choose two cells to compare formulas. In this case, cells B9 and C9 are selected and compared. It helps to find an error that reference B1 is changing to C1.
